While we believe that Moses penned most of the first five books of the Bible under divine inspiration (Deuteronomy 31:24-26), he certainly seemed to use sources for some of it (Genesis 2:4), and a few sections were added after his passing. All done under diving inspiration as well!
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (WEB) “Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that each person who belongs to God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
2 Peter 1:21 (WEB) “For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit.”
Chapter 34 looks back at his death and serves as a fitting epitaph of his life, all while looking forward to the exciting new chapter of Israel’s journey. Joshua is the new leader, but, as of the time Deuteronomy 34 was written, no-one could hold a candle to Moses!

Acts 3:22-26 (WEB) “For Moses indeed said to the fathers, ‘The Lord God will raise up a prophet for you from amongst your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him in all things whatever he says to you. It will be that every soul that will not listen to that prophet will be utterly destroyed from amongst the people.’ Yes, and all the prophets from Samuel and those who followed after, as many as have spoken, also told of these days. You are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘All the families of the earth will be blessed through your offspring.’ God, having raised up his servant Jesus, sent him to you first to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your wickedness.”
