Proverbs 12:4-5 “An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who brings shame is like rottenness in his bones. The thoughts of the righteous are just; the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.”

It would be very easy to read our culture back into verse 4, but we need to remember something very important. Much of Proverbs is written like a message from a father to a son. It’s only natural that the proverb should read like it does! The important message is that we need to be careful who we marry. Since we become one flesh, whatever one partner does affects the other. The message for those of us who are married is to make sure we live in such a way that others say, “What a lucky girl/guy!”

The righteous think right and convey that right thinking to others. When we seek advice we need to make sure that we seek out the righteous, because the counsel of the wicked is fraudulent. It may sound good at the beginning, but it ends up being wrong and rotten!
