Proverbs 9:1-6 “Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn her seven pillars. She has slaughtered her beasts; she has mixed her wine; she has also set her table. She has sent out her young women to call from the highest places in the town, “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” To him who lacks sense she says, ‘Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed. Leave your simple ways, and live, and walk in the way of insight.’”

Chapter 9 starts with the house of wisdom and ends with the house of folly. Wisdom’s house is described as having seven pillars. While much has been made of that, the simplest interpretation is probably that wisdom’s house is large and has room for all. Everyone is invited to feast!

Isaiah 55:1-2 “Hey, all who are thirsty, come to the water! You who have no money, come! Buy and eat! Come! Buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why pay money for something that will not nourish you? Why spend your hard-earned money on something that will not satisfy? Listen carefully to me and eat what is nourishing! Enjoy fine food.”
