Although it was the miracles that brought many, Jesus used every opportunity to teach (Mark 6:34). He taught out of compassion, because people needed to know how to have a right relationship with God. Christians have been following this pattern since then. We try to meet peoples needs with the hope that we will be able to share about what they really need: a relationship with Jesus Christ!
It seems amazing to us that the disciples were still struggling to figure out Jesus. Even after using five loaves and two fish to feed over 5000 people, and walking on the water and calming the sea, they had hardened hearts. They didn’t get that he was more than a man. He was God incarnate! We shouldn’t be too harsh on them though. It takes a work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts for us to get it!
John 15:26 “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.”
