James 1-5 (The Daily Walk Bible).
We’ve already talked about how faith does works, a popular topic here in James. Let’s focus on something else: “God blesses the people who patiently endure testing” (1:12). James reminds us that God doesn’t tempt us to do wrong. We are tested, and we turn it into a temptation by our own evil desires (1:14). The reason God allows us to be tested (even though we can fail) is because, when we pass the test, we mature and grow (1:3). That’s why we should “count it all joy” when trouble comes our way. Because it really is a blessing!
