Reflection Day!
We find Job mentioned once in the NT. James encourages believers to remain faithful in the midst of persecution as they wait for the coming of the Lord, and he uses Job as an example. James 5:11 says, “Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.”
Job, despite his confusion, his depression, his complaining, and his desire to never have been born, still stays faithful to God. His wife wanted him to “curse God and die” (Job 2:9), but he doesn’t. Although we eventually find God chastising him for his attitude, we also find God blessing him for his faithfulness! May we stay steadfast as well, regardless of what we may face in life.
James 1:12 “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.”
