Ezra 1-3 (The Daily Walk Bible).

Two quick notes…

Isn’t 3:8 amazing? “The work force was made up of everyone who had returned from exile.” It’s a reminder of how God expects the church to function. We’ve all been given gifts, and we’re expected to use them. “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all” (1 Corinthians 12:7).

The end of chapter 3 also reminds us that sometimes in life we simply choose how we are going to respond to situations. We can decide to be upset, or we can look for the good that God is accomplishing and rejoice in it. Some here decided that the new temple wasn’t as good as the old, but others rejoiced because God had brought them home and provided a place for worship. Two completely different perspectives on the same event! How are you going to respond to what you have to face today? Are you going to look for the bad, or rejoice in the good?
