2 Chronicles 26-28 (The Daily Walk Bible).
We see Uzziah’s main problem here: “but when he had become powerful he also became proud” (26:16). Scripture continually warns us about pride. Proverbs 16:18-19 says, “Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor than to divide the spoil with the proud.” Uzziah, in his pride, thinks that he can become a priest. If you remember, Saul thought the same thing, which was also a disaster for him (1 Samuel 13)!
2 Chronicles 27:2 reminds us that godly leadership doesn’t guarantee a godly population: “nevertheless, the people continued in their corrupt ways.”
