Ruth 1-4 (The Daily Walk Bible).

As our devotional points out, Ruth is a wonderful story of love and faith in the midst of an unsettled and violent time (Judges). It reminds us that while there are times where we can describe an entire group, people or era with sweeping generalizations, there can also be individuals within that era who defy those generalizations. So how about us? Are we going to be defined by our era and culture, or are we going to be distinctive and stand out by our devotion to God?

Ruth 1:16 was the verse on the outside of our wedding program: “And Ruth said, ‘Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.'”
