Joshua 22-24 (The Daily Walk Bible).
Twice in this passage we see the importance of landmarks, memorials, or remembrances.
Joshua 22:26 “So we decided to build the altar, not for burnt sacrifices, but as a memorial.”
Joshua 24:27 “As a reminder of their agreement, he took a huge stone and rolled it beneath the oak tree beside the Tabernacle of the Lord.”
Do you have a special place that you go that reminds you of what the Lord has done in your life? Do you wear a piece of jewelry or carry something with you that reminds you of the Lord’s faithfulness? My wife and I have several chapels that are special to us. One is on the campus of Liberty University, and the other is at Beeson Divinity School. There have also been times that I’ve carried a special memento that was a reminder of God and His work in my life. These types of things can be very special, but we just have to make sure that the item or place doesn’t become a substitute for the God that we serve!
