While we aren’t necessarily punished for other peoples sins, when someone else sins it can have lasting repercussions. The greatest example would be Adam and Eve sinning in the Garden with the end result affecting all of mankind! Here we see how the sins of one generation end up affecting the next, and it reminds us that temporal punishments for our own sin can end up causing issues for those we love.
