Exodus 21-24 (The Daily Walk Bible).
Here is a synopsis of the reading for today that I did a long, long time ago... I) The Book of the Covenant Given (Exodus 21-23) A) There are laws concerning slaves and their families. B) There are laws concerning work contracts and weddings. C) Those who commit willful murder, engage in slave trading, or curse one’s parents must be put to death. All victims receive payment from the guilty, and there are severe punishments for those who exploit widows and orphans. D) There are laws concerning the payment of dowries. E) Sorcerers are to be put to death. F) Bestiality is a capital offense. G) Other gods are not to be sacrificed to or mentioned. H) The poor cannot be charged interest, nor can their clothes be kept in pledge. I) The firstfruits of the ground and the womb are the Lords. J) There are laws concerning the payment of dowries. S) Strangers are not to be oppressed. T) The land needs a sabbatical year. U) Man needs a Sabbath. V) Three feasts are supposed to be observed yearly. W) Israel is supposed to obey God and be holy. II) The Book of the Covenant Accepted (Exodus 20:22-26, 24:1-11) A) Instructions given for worship. B) Moses writes down what God said. C) The people worship God and pledge their obedience. D) God allows some of the elders to see his glory.
